Waldron High School Band headed to STATE

The Waldron High School Band has had an exciting and busy 2023 season! We started our season out at the Dale Bumpers Marching Contest at Charleston High School. We competed against 15 bands from 2A-5A schools around the area. We had a good run that day and we were proud of our performance. We received the following awards at Dale Bumpers:
First Division Color Guard
First Division Drum Major
First Division Percussion
First Division Band
Most Outstanding Color Guard
Highest Music Score
Best in Class 4A
Grand Champion

We attended our Region Marching Assessment at Northside High School on October 17th. This assessment is important because it is the competition that would qualify us for State Marching Competition. It was a cold and windy night for marching band but our band pulled through and put on an outstanding performance. We received straight First Division Ratings at Region which qualified us to take on state.

Last weekend, the Waldron High School Band attended the River Valley Marching Invitational at Pottsville High School. We competed against bands we had never seen before and we had some tough competition. We received the following awards:
Second Division Band
Second Place Class 4A
First Place Division Three Band(1-49 performers)

Overall, this has been a successful 2023 marching season for the Waldron High School Band. When we started summer band in July, we were working with very young players and a small senior class. They knew they had to get to work and put in the hours to get to state competition and they rose to the challenge.

We are headed to State Marching Contest on Monday, October 30th. Our performance time is at 2:15pm. We are looking forward to wrapping our season up at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock and we are proud of how far we have come!
