The safety of our students and staff is always our highest priority.
As we monitor the potential for inclement weather on Friday, January 23, we want to communicate our plan clearly and proactively. At this point, we have seen different weather models shared by multiple sources. Some models call for minimal precipitation, another indicates moderate precipitation arriving earlier Friday afternoon, and a there are some that suggest heavier precipitation occurring close to our normal dismissal time. While weather forecasting is not an exact science, what is certain is our responsibility to care for every individual in our district.
Because of these factors, and out of an abundance of caution, Waldron School District will operate on an early release schedule on Friday, January 23, with dismissal at 12:00 p.m. I sincerely hope the forecast with minimal impact proves to be correct and that conditions remain dry at release time. However, we would much rather be wrong in hoping for clear weather than risk being wrong with student and staff safety. Our intentions are that all of our students and staff, including bus drivers, are back home before the major weather occurs.
We appreciate your understanding as we make decisions with student and staff well-being at the forefront.
